Before You Install

Save a copy of your current Resource Redirect settings before changing the icon path. This gives you an easy way to return to your previous setup later instead of trying to rebuild the configuration from memory. Once Nova is working, keep the extracted folder in the exact same location. Resource Redirect loads the icon files from that saved path, so moving or renaming the folder will stop the pack from loading.

How to Install the Nova Icon Pack

1. Install Windhawk: Download and install Windhawk if it is not already installed.
2. Enable Resource Redirect: Open Windhawk, search for the Resource Redirect mod, and install it.
3. Download Nova: Download the ZIP archive using the button below.
4. Extract the Pack: Extract the archive to a safe folder location that you plan to keep permanently.
5. Copy the Folder Path: Open the extracted Nova folder and copy its full Windows directory path.
6. Apply in Windhawk: Go to the Resource Redirect mod settings and paste the Nova folder path into the custom theme/resource folder field. (Remove quotation marks if Windows added them automatically).
7. Save & Refresh: Apply the settings. Restart Windows Explorer if the new icons do not appear immediately.

Troubleshooting: Missing or Unchanged Icons

Resource Redirect can only replace resources included in the pack. Some third-party applications use their own icon files, and certain folders (like picture or video folders) may show thumbnail previews instead of the normal folder resource.

If the path is correct in Windhawk but older icons remain visible everywhere, restart Windows Explorer. Windows may also be holding on to cached icons, so an icon-cache refresh can sometimes be necessary.

How to Remove

1. Open Windhawk and select the installed Resource Redirect mod.
2. Open its settings and find the custom path currently pointing to the Nova folder.
3. Replace the Nova path with your earlier configuration, or remove it entirely to return to the default Windows resources.
4. Save the changes and restart Windows Explorer so the previous icons can reload.
5. You can now safely delete the extracted Nova folder from your PC.
